ORLANDO, FL, June 10, 2009 – The Florida Chamber of Commerce announced yesterday that Representative Eric Eisnaugle received the Distinguished Advocate Award for 2009. The Florida Chamber, Florida’s largest business group, recognized eleven of the 120 members of the Florida House for their efforts to create a jobs-friendly environment in Florida. Representative Eisnaugle, a freshman legislator, received the award because he “championed legislation to lower insurance assessment costs for Floridians and worked to create a program that would encourage small businesses in Florida to develop high-tech products.”

ORLANDO, FL, May 8, 2009 – Today, Representative Eric Eisnaugle voted to increase per-student funding during the 2009-10 school year. Legislation implementing recent ethics reforms made by the Orange County Commission passed in the Florida House today. House Bill (HB) 985 brings key enforcement provisions of the ethics reforms into effect by creating a required public records exemption for complaints until probable cause is found.

Legislation ensuring accountability, transparency and good stewardship of taxpayer money when the Attorney General contracts with private attorneys was approved by the Florida House yesterday. House Bill (HB) 215, sponsored by Representative Eric Eisnaugle (R-Orlando), maximizes taxpayer dollars by providing a reasonable limit of $50 million on attorney fees when the Attorney General hires private attorneys on a contingency fee basis.

“Floridians deserve confidence that any and all contracts that the Attorney General makes with private attorneys are in the public’s best interest and that any private attorneys hired by the Attorney General work only for their clients, the people of Florida, and not the other way around” said Representative Eisnaugle. “This common-sense legislation has been called ‘Sunshine for Lawyers’ for a good reason – it shines the light of public scrutiny on how taxpayers’ money is spent.”
